President Mwai Kibaki, on Wednesday at State House, Nairobi, witnessed the swearing-in of three recently appointed cabinet ministers Danson Mwazo, Minister for Tourism, Eugene Wamalwa Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs and Jamleck Kamau Minister for Nairobi Metropolitan.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by acting Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, Francis Kimemia.
Congratulating the newly appointed cabinet members, President Kibaki expressed confidence that the ministers were up to the task ahead of them.
During the occasion, the President stated that the nation was experiencing an accelerated economic growth rate and increased revenue collection adding that the prospects of national development looked better with the discovery of oil in Turkana County.
"We recently discovered some oil. This is a good development for our country. It will help supplement our development efforts," the President remarked.
The Head of State was delighted that the countryâs future looked bright as evidenced by many prospecting investors from all over the world who are keen to establish commercial ventures in Kenya.
Noting that the appointees represented the youthful leaders of the nation, the President challenged the new cabinet ministers to inject new impetus and fresh ideas in the management of public affairs.
Said the President, "I look forward to working with you in the cabinet. You are youthful, talented and expected to serve the nation in your new status with a difference. Your new assignment is challenging and exciting too. "
President Kibaki reminded them that their focus at all times should be serving Kenyans with diligence and advised them to ignore unnecessary distractions from pessimists.
The Head of State asked the appointed ministers to make their contribution in propelling higher the countryâs stature which had been elevated both
regionally and internationally because of her leading role in securing not only peace and security in neighbouring countries but also in unlocking regional economic potential.
