Zlatan Ibrahimovic insists he was trying to avoid Seamus Coleman when his foot collected in the head during Sunday's draw between Manchester United and Everton.

After reports of a possible retrospective ban, Ibrahimovic said the clash was no more than an accident.

"They played hard and I heard one of the commentators say I kicked someone in the head on purpose," Ibrahimovic told MUTV.

"It was a 50-50 duel. He pulled me down and I tried to avoid touching him.

"Trust me, if I want to kick someone in the head, I know how to kick someone in the head and make him fall asleep. That is the only thing I have to say."

Ibrahimovic put United ahead in the first half with a deft lob over Marten Stekelenburg that bounced, hit the crossbar and spun back towards the line before goalline technology confirmed it would count.
