Opinion: The 'Tuko Pamoja' slogan suggests those shifting to Jubilee are to benefit from such development

All defecting political leaders are citing Government-initiated projects as reason for trooping to the Jubilee Party.

Further, Jubilee Party honchos have argued that those who join them are assured of development, moving forward.

The 'Tuko Pamoja' slogan of the Jubilee Party also seems to suggest that you are either in Jubilee or you are a stranger to access resources meant for equitable development, which is a prerogative of any Government in power. This thinking is problematic for a myriad of reasons.

It suggests that those shifting to Jubilee are to benefit from such development. If development was to come due to such political association, this would amount to tokenism and purchase of individual loyalty for development, and not equitable development as envisioned in the Constitution.

It is lost on such individuals that equitable development is a right and not a carrot to be dangled for political support of the Government as it used to be under the old constitutional dispensation.
