Women MPs from North Rift want parents to play a leading role in instilling discipline in their children to end unrest in schools.

Janet Nangabo (Trans-Nzoia), Mary Emanikor (Turkana) and Regina Nyeris (West Pokot) said parents must intervene to end arson attacks schools have been experiencing.

"They have a major responsibility because they carry the burden of funding reconstruction of schools," said Emanikor.

Nangabo (above): "Let's talk to our children. We should not shy away from our parental responsibility because we are the losers." Nyeris said the trend must not continue.

"We must find a way out of this problem to lessen the burden on parents and also to ensure our children's education is not interrupted," she said.
