Former Planning Minister Henry Obwocha has been kicked out as the chairman of FORD People.

The Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) in its judgement said Mr Obwocha having been appointed as the chairperson of the Sugar Privatisation Commission was ineligible to hold office as the chairman of the party.

Two Ford People members John Otee Imoite and Jerry Kenyansa filed the suit against Obwocha and acting Secretary General Albert Nyaundi alleging that the two were holding the party positions illegally.

They also claimed that the two officials had been participating in discussions aimed at merging the party with another contrary to the wishes of the members.

They also argued that the nomination of Mr Nyaundi by Ford People National Executive Council as secretary general had not been ratified by the party's General Council and, therefore, he should not have assumed duties.

They also stated that the party does not have a proper internal dispute resolution process to handle complaints against Obwocha and Nyaundi, whom they claimed were in office illegally.

Mr Imoite and Mr Kenyansa told the tribunal chaired by Kyalo Mbobu that they sought its intervention after they failed to get a response from the party on how to handle the matter.
