Wake up and smell the coffee, Kenyans

The 2017 General Election is around the corner and politicians are gearing up for the race.

Those interested in various political positions are strategising how they will take over as others fight to retain their seats. Projects are being funded and promises of a brighter future made.

Politicians constantly remind the electorate of various projects they have initiated. On seeing the voters' reactions, politicians feel assured of the votes and slowly start giving less.

While addressing people, politicians choose their language well. Sweet words make people forget they are receiving what initially belonged to them. They cheer at the words. Voters need to understand that it is their money paid as taxes that will help establish the projects and it is their right.

Our freedom to choose leaders wisely has been compromised. We are being controlled by someone for his/her own good.

To all citizens, it is time to be wise. Do not allow yourselves to be carried by the wave. Let us choose wisely and end monopoly of power.
