Two inmates at the Athi River GK Prison have been ordained as pastors while 50 others graduated with certificates in biblical studies and theology.

The inmates had been undergoing a training dubbed CLIMB for the last 12 months courtesy of a theology institute.

While Robert Matano said he had an inborn call to be a pastor before he was convicted, Jeremiah Ndabuki said the rehabilitation and correction he had undergone for the last nine years had influenced him spiritually.

Programme director Rev Don Lagrin said the church needed to influence special groups. Officer in charge at the facility Bison Madegwa said the training which had at least 800 male inmates would boost their morality.
