Imagine burning the midnight oil for for four years in a university only to graduate with a wrong course.

A course alien to you and the one you never stepped in class to study.

Well, this is what befell

Veronica Nekesa a graduate from Moi University.

After four years she was awarded a degree she didn’t pursue.

“I joined the institution in 2010 to pursue a degree in Business Management Finance and Banking option. My admission number was BBM/3049/10,” she said.

“I graduated in August 2012. Months later, I went to pick my certificate and I was shocked wen my certificate read Accounting. I have tried to have it rectified, but in vain. I have written letters to the University’s administration but nothing has been done,” Nekesa claimed.

This is the trend especially in faculties that are flooded.

Samson Oduol also faced the same predicament.

“I graduated in 2008 having pursued Kiswahili Education with CRE,” he told Campus Vibe, adding that: “My certificate only had CRE. It took me two years to have the it rectified,” said Oduol.

“You cannot notice it until the graduation day. Interestingly, the graduation list is usually correct, but the certificate reads differently,” he added.

Speaking to Campus Vibe, a representative from the School’s Corporate Affairs department who identified himself as Chris said they had been informed of Veronica’s issue and were working on it.

He also urged students with such problems to forward them to the student leaders.
