Paul Scholes criticises Manchester United’s Anthony Martial

Paul Scholes has hit out at Anthony Martial, accusing the young Manchester United striker of not caring enough when he plays.

The Frenchman became the most expensive teenager in history when he joined United in the summer for £36million (a fee could eventually rise to £58million).

But after a promising start in which he scored four goals in four games, he has struggled to maintain his form.

In his last 14 appearances for club and country he has found the back of the net just once, and even that strike was more than a month ago.

And Scholes - a model professional during his career at Old Trafford - says the 19-year-old doesn't have the right attitude.

"He doesn't look bothered if he misses a chance," Scholes said on BT Sport after United's 0-0 draw with PSV.

"He doesn't look bothered if he scores a goal. As a centre forward, all you live for is scoring goals, all you want to do is score goals.

"He doesn't look like one of those players to me and maybe they need to go into the transfer market in January for one of them."
