A six-year-old boy is admitted at a city hospital after he was reportedly beaten and injured by his stepmother.
Tasha Kakhayi, the boy’s stepmother, is now facing assault charges for the offence she allegedly committed on November 10 in Industrial Area.
Police said the boy always slept on the sofa overnight. But on this particular night, he reportedly wet the couch in his sleep.
Angry, the suspect is said to have stripped the boy naked before whipping him with an electric wire before forcing him to dry the couch.
It is reported that a neighbour who rushed to help the boy after hearing him scream for help found the minor naked and bleeding.
The boy was rushed to hospital in serious condition.
The court heard that the accused attempted to flee after spotting officers from the Children’s Department.
Kakhayi allegedly asked for forgiveness, claiming she wanted to teach the boy to grow up as a responsible man.
In court, however, the accused denied the charges and was released on a Sh10,000 bail. The case will be heard on April 27, 2016.
