Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero asks Nairobi MPs to stop politicising e-payment

Nairobi, Kenya: Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has urged a section of city MPs to stop politicising revenue collection at City Hall.

Kidero cited the e-payment contract, which he said was awarded fairly, and told a section of Nairobi MPs to stop dragging him into petty politics.

Kidero said questions raised on the matter have been answered but vested interests and predetermined mindsets seems to prevail

"I am perplexed by too many questions regarding the contract. My officers have clarified everything to the auditors. If they know there is something wrong, then they are free to visit the EACC. We will not go that direction of fighting service delivery," Kidero said.

The Governor added that he will not allow himself to be derailed by people who want to steal from the County.

"We have sealed all revenue leakages and now corruption is fighting back. Why will you fight a system that is efficient and revenue has grown by Sh1.4 billion since inception?" he posed.

On Thursday, three MPs asked Kidero to cancel the e-payment contract, which has seen automation of revenue collection in the County.

The three MPs are Benson Mutura (Makadara), George Theuri (Embakasi West) and Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete).
