Pastor James Ng'ang'a Neno Evangelism Centre's bank accounts frozen

Nairobi, Kenya: The High Court has frozen bank accounts held by Neno Evangelism Centre, headed by Pastor James Maina Ng'ang'a.

The restraining orders were issued after a man accused Ng'ang'a of refusing to return money he deposited in the church's account because it had offered special prayers to help him deal with psychological problems

Geoffrey Kimani Ndung'u claims he was not in the right frame of mind when he deposited Sh2 million in the church's account in April 2012.

Ndung'u asked the High Court to compel the church to return the money to him or have it recovered from bank accounts held by Neno Evangelism Centre trustees.

However, the embattled pastor claimed that Neno did not get the cash through coercion and said this was a voluntary contribution.

The High Court in April ordered the church's accounts at Equity and Cooperative banks to be frozen, a decision that Senior Principal Magistrate Linus Kassan upheld on August 4 pending a hearing of the case.
