Wenger goes straight down the tunnel at final whistle, without shaking hands with Jose Mourinho

Well that was awkward.

In the aftermath of Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield, it looked as though feuding managers Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho might shake hands.

It didn't work out that way.

As the victorious Arsenal squad came back down the Wembley steps after collecting their medals, Mourinho started congratulating them one by one.

But Wenger, rather than shake the Chelsea manager's hand, changed his path to avoid him, leaving a snubbed Mourinho to head down the tunnel on his own.

Mourinho said of the incident: "You only miss me because you want to miss me."

When asked why he congratulated the Arsenal players, he told BT Sport: "All of them? They won. It's normal."

Mourinho wasn't however, prepared to say the Gunners deserved their win.

"I think we were the best team," he added. "We had the initiative.

"Arsenal played with a very low block. They defend with ten men, very organised. Well done them."

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the only goal of the game as Wenger beat Mourinho on his 14th attempt.

Chelsea's unbeaten run against Arsenal may have ended - but the tension between the two managers doesn't appear to be going anywhere.
