Dr Kibisu Kabatesi, Musalia Mudavadi's aide, has dismissed reports that the former Vice President of Kenya failed to honour a Sh50,000 pledge to AFC Leopards. Kabatesi instead sought to clarify that Mudavadi gave a cash donation of a similar amount to Vihiga County Governor Moses Akaranga.

"Let it be clear that Mudavadi did not make a pledge, he instead gave his personal contribution through Akaranga who even announced the amount at the harambee," said Kabatesi.

Kabatesi further lamented that it would be very unfortunate for selfish individuals to turn the former deputy Prime Minister's kind gesture into a name calling an smear campaign meant to soil Mudavadi's name.

"He was ambushed while we were enroute to Mumias for the President's visit, but in a short notice Mudavadi was able to come up with some contribution. We are therefore shocked that some people at the harambee later complained that Mudavadi's contribution was little. Wewe unafikiria 50,000 ni pesa kidogo?" posed Kabatesi.

Asava Kadima AFC Leopards Deputy Secretary General confirmed that contrary to reports from a section of the digital media, Mudavadi actually gave a Sh50,000 donation.

"We are now doing reconciliations, since we received a number of pledges and cheques, we shall soon announce on whose contribution has come through and who else has failed to honour their respective pledges," Kadima told OffSide.

Sources at the funds drive held at Panafric Hotel told OffSide that when Mudavadi's name was read out with a pledge of Sh50,000, the hall was drowned with booing and cat calls. Honourable Moses Akaranga had to intercede to calm the crowd who were banking their hopes on the former Vice President.

"We are bitterly disappointed at this little token from a senior Luhya leader. Is this the kind of person we expect to lead Kenya?" posed one of the ardent Ingwe supporters.
