Public speaking

In the past few years, I have had a lot of requests from different people asking me to start a coaching and mentorship programme on public and motivational speaking. About a month ago, I decided to start a motivational speaking academy, a place where men and women, both young and old, will learn how to become influential motivational speakers and move their world to the next level.

Someone once observed that half the world is made of people who have something but they can’t say it and the other half is made of people who have nothing to say but keep on saying it.

Did you know that the number one fear of most people is public speaking? Coming at close second is death. Therefore, in the event such people found themselves in a funeral and they were asked to give a speech, they would rather be in the casket than be on the podium to address mourners.

Research shows that 99 per cent of the world’s population fear speaking in public and of the 1 per cent, 95 per cent have nothing original or interesting to say. On Tuesday this week, we had our first public lecture from our recently launched motivational speaking academy.

The topic of the lecture was on public speaking, being the key note speaker, I was speaking to my audience about the importance of mastering good public speaking skills in order to become unforgettable after any presentation.

Winston Churchill once said that “public speaking can transform a common man to a statesman.” There are people with great brains but who can’t really express their ideas in a very interesting and captivating way and then you have another set of persons with very average brains but with golden tongues. These are fellows who find themselves talking in the presence of the mighty people in the world.

Many years ago, I heard about an African proverb that says a child who has washed his hands has the opportunity to dine with kings. In that respect, I would like to say that any idiot who masters the art of speaking well can have a chance to stand before kings. At this juncture, I would like to ask a question: What is more powerful between the brain and the tongue? You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know the answer is the tongue.

The brain, with all its intelligence, cannot speak for itself, but the tongue can speak for itself in the presence of great people. As I like saying in most of my talks, some people are extremely intelligent but can’t express themselves, while others are dangerously slow-minded, but their tongues can put a great show through good public speaking.

If there is one skill I would like you to invest in, it is how to be a great communicator, a speaker who inspires with class and style. Your ability to speak well will separate you from common people and place you above your peers. Invest in your public speaking ability and become the next great motivational speaker in town.

There are thousands of people out there who need inspiration. Learn how to inspire and influence them. From our schools, our families, our communities, our churches, everyone is looking for someone to inspire them. Do you have the passion to become a motivational speaker? Find a coach and change your world.
