Chelsea star ''desperate to return'' to Atletico Madrid, claim Spanish reports

Chelsea striker Diego Costa is allegedly unhappy in London and is willing to take a pay cut to move back to Athletico Madrid

London: Diego Costa is desperate to leave Chelsea and return to Atletico Madrid, it has been claimed.

Spanish sports daily Marca carries reports on Monday morning that the Brazilian-born centre-forward is unhappy in London and even willing to take a pay cut to move back to Madrid.

"Although his season has been notable in a sporting sense," the report says. "Diego Costa is not happy at Chelsea.

"His problem is his lacking of adaptation to London, to the rainy English climate, the language and the food.

All of these have been key in moving the striker to make contact with the Atletico Madrid directors... with one objective. To return home, to the club he arrived at at 17 years old."

Despite the £35million signing doubling his wages on moving to the Premier League, the Spain forward is willing to take a significant cut in his salary to seal a return.

Atleti boss Diego Simeone is reported to have contacted Diego Costa to try and seal his return but while Chelsea are reluctant it will be difficult for the 26-year-old to force a move unless he is willing to submit a transfer request.
