A total of 302 executives have been appointed, to be distributed in 79 Parastatals in the country. This is the first batch of appointments to State Corporations that the Government is making in its plan to shake up the sector.

The appointments come after the Government carried out “a comprehensive appraisal of all State Corporations in terms of capacity, staffing and management practices.” The appraisal process carried out by Presidential Taskforce on Parastatal Reforms took 18 months.

The Government said the appointments, reflect the Face of Kenya with all 47 Counties represented in honour of the diversity of all people and communities of Kenya.

“The 302 Appointments to 79 State Corporations carried in a Special Issue of the Kenya Gazette, Vol. CXVII-No. 43 published on Monday 27 April 2015, exhibit men and women of integrity, dedication and competence,” read a statement by State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu announcing the appointments.

Esipisu said the appointments comply with the constitutional imperatives on the appointment of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities.

“In making the appointments, the Administration has tapped into the wisdom, experience and knowledge of our senior citizens, while embracing the energy, enthusiasm and innovation of our young people,” said Esipisu.

Currently at 31%, Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities will comprise a significant share of the appointments once the exercise is concluded - higher than at any other time in our history.

“In terms of “Mwongozo” guidelines and Executive Order No. 6 on Integrity, the new parastatal executives will be expected to make a public declaration on fighting corruption,” said Esipisu.
