PRESSURE BUILT

As pressure built on the tax men, Robert Omunuk was cautioned for pulling down an opponent.

The tax men ended the first half by winning a corner but it was not enough. Gor Mahia started the second half on a high and from kick off  Olunga set up Kagera to score the second goal in the 46th minute.

Then Ushuru made the first substitution, resting Nelson Simwa for Roosevelt Blatty as they sought to reduce the deficit.

The change seemed to have worked as the tax men got more balls upfront and in the 70th minute, Mohammed Hussein was denied by Boniface Oluoch in Gor Mahia goal.

Hard-fighting Gor midfielder Collins Okoth was cautioned for a hard tackle. Ushuru kept up the pressure and were unlucky not to get something from the match.

Speaking after the match, Ushuru coach Ken Kenyatta said his players made some blunders which cost them victory.

“We did well but made some blunders that cost us dearly. We go back to the drawing board ahead of our next match,” he said. At Thika Municipal Stadium, hosts Thika United beat Nairobi City Stars 1-0 with James Macharia scoring the only goal of the match.
