Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria has been a frequent visitor of Giggles

Giggles, the ‘journalists club’ has closed down amid protest from clients.

The pub, which attracts top journalists, lawyers, businessmen, politicians and the who is who in Nairobi, has unfortunately gone under.

Speaking to The Nairobian, one of the Giggles’ manager said the business could change into something else.

“There is little I can say for now but I don’t see a bright future for Giggles. The interest could change from running a social joint as it were to something different. Our clients, whom we really value, may have to bear with us,” he said.

News of the famous joint located on Banda Street, popularly known as ‘Country Club’ or ‘Kanitha’, closing down has angered Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, a frequent visitor.

“I have frequented Giggles over the last 10 years and made valuable contacts in the media.” Kuria warns the management: “If you do not re-open, I will mobilise both local and international investors and it will be back in business,” he said.

Another journalist, The Standard’s Mwaniki Munuhe, says if it true the pub has shut down, then it is really sad.

“I am not aware of the closure,” he says despite waiters and other revellers referring to him as the ‘Chairman’. “I have not visited the joint for some time now. In fact, I was planning to visit today. However, I can confirm the joint is frequented by prominent politicians, businessmen and journalists,” he added.

To thank them for their loyalty, the pub had special glasses and mugs inscribed with their customers’ names.

Other notable personalities who frequent the pub include Dennis Itumbi, the director of digital communication in the office of the president.
