 How to look young

1. Eat tomatoes. They contain vital skin vitamins A, C and E. They are also an important source of the antioxidant lycopene, which may help slow ageing.

2. Eat Prunes. They're packed with powerful antioxidants called anthocyanins, that can help fight the free radical damage responsible for breaking down collagen in the skin and causing those dreaded wrinkles.

3. Enjoy avocado. Avocados are absolutely bursting with antioxidants, vitamin E and essential fats - all of which help keep the skin soft and wrinkle-free.

4. Select your wardrobe staples. A classic navy shift, striped maxi-dress, pair of crisp well-cut beige shorts and an on-trend blazer are ideal summer staples.

5. Cut down alcohol. After posing in her undies at 55, Gillian Taylforth admitted she'd sacrificed booze for a fabulous body. She said: "I've stopped drinking alcohol during the week, which is quite tough, but I'm getting used to it."

6. Build exercise into your everyday life. Christie Brinkley looks stunning at 57 but uses every opportunity to get fit. She said: "When I'm walking on the beach, I'll sneak in some lunges or squats as I bend down to pick up shells. I don't care if it looks silly!"

7. Add colour Head-to-toe: black may be slimming but it can also be ageing, especially in summer when bright colours rule.

Introducing just a splash of colour, such as a vibrant top, into a plain outfit is one of the easiest ways to look years younger.

8. Drink green tea. This celebrity favourite is rich in flavonoids - antioxidants that can help protect the skin against ageing and reduce damage caused by the sun.

9. Slim down. When you pick a swimsuit, stay away from one with a skirt attached - it's a classic old lady look. In reality, that extra fabric always makes you appear bigger and the additional seam is veryy unflattering.

10. Drink water. Twiggy, 61, swears by keeping herself hydrated. She said: "Drinking water is one of the best things we can do for our skin.

"Sleeping with heating on can add three years to your face, simply due  to your skin being dried to a crisp overnight."

11. Make do with mini make-up. When the weather hots up, make-up needs to be light, so save foundation and shadow for the evening. And instead of lipstick, use a balm that contains SPF.

12. Perfect your posture When you stand up staight and pull your chin in, it makes you look younger.

It's one of 66-year-old Helen Mirren's top tips. She said: "Holding your stomach in is another trick for making you look and feel good."

13. Eat dark chocolate. It contains the highest amount of antioxidants of any food. These powerful agents, known as polyphenols, can help fight ageing.

14. Cover it up. After you've passed 25 you should really say goodbye to your super-skimpy bikini. They can make even the slimmest women appear lumpy and you'll look a lot sexier by revealing a little less.

15 .Stay well clear of stripes. If you want to look our slimmest, stay well away from anything that cuts across your body. This includes zebra or candy stripes.

16. Eat almonds. They're high in calcium and magnesium, which help banish water retention. They're also packed with vitamin E, which helps balance hormone levels.

17. Eat blueberries. They contain the second most age-busting antioxidants of any fruit. Plus they're rich in collagenstimulating vitamin C, which is vital for youthful skin.

18. Pick a perfect fit. Warm temperatures make it tempting to hang loose, but baggy, shapeless dresses and tops will add years. Choose tailored clothes instead with nipped-in waists and sharp lines that follow the shape of your body.

19 . Smooth away cellulite. While it's impossible to completely cure cellulite with a cream, you can make the bumpy skin on your thighs, bum and tummy less noticeable with a treatment that contains proven stimulating ingredients, such as seaweed or caffeine.

Massage problem areas using circular motions, moving upwards towards your heart.

20.  Eat broccoli. It's high in chromium, a mineral that helps the pancreas stabilise insulin release so you don't get the fluctuating blood sugar levels that can lead to cravings. This in turn helps ward off middle-age spread.
