Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua discharged from hospital, to resume duties

Governor Nderitu Gachagua, who has been undergoing treatment in the UK, has been discharged from hospital and is expected back in the country in the next 10 days.

Speaking during the launch of the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the county and the Kenya School of Government, Deputy Governor Samuel Wamathai announced yesterday he had confirmed the county chief would soon resume his duties.

“I have been the acting governor for the past two and a half months.

“I am relieved that the governor is on his way back to continue heading the county,” Mr Wamathai said.

Gachagua was last seen in public during the Jamhuri Day celebrations last year, before he was taken ill.

News that he had travelled to the UK for treatment caused anxiety.
