Impress your teachers to keep ahead of classmates

To enjoy your time in school, it is prudent that you have a good relationship with your teachers. They make or break your final year grade.

Whether you love your teacher or not, you have no choice but to impress them by always staying on their good side. How then do you create a favourable impression with your teacher?

Come to class prepared for the day's session. Have all your books and pens ready.

Have a positive attitude in and about your class and pay attention during all lessons by being a good listener. Make eye contact with the teacher as she talks.

If you must ask a question in class, ensure it is a relevant question. If you need any help, do not hesitate to ask. Attempt to answer questions whenever the teacher asks.

Be an active student and participate in all class discussions and activities.

Whenever appropriate, help the teacher by cleaning the chalkboard, opening doors for them or even carrying their books to class.

Smile and say hello when you meet them in the school corridors. Never gossip about your teacher, otherwise, word would get back to your teacher because you do not know who is listening.

Never get to class late. Be on time, and avoid missing class unless it is inevitable. When you come back to school, get class notes and homework from your classmates and make up all the work. Show everything you have done to your teachers when you get back.

Your attendance should be consistent. Getting late to school or class will land you in trouble with the teacher.

Be a neat and pleasant student always. Also, maintain good personal hygiene. Ensure your hair is neatly combed, your shoes are clean, and your uniform is well ironed.

Keep your desk neat all the time.

Show respect to your teachers and classmates at all times. Try and also show concern to other students.

Always sit at the front of the class if possible. This way, you fully concentrate on the lesson.

Various research show that teachers like students who sit at the front because such students will hardly make noise.

Always do your homework and on time. Be good in time management.

Participate in extra activities like sports, music, and drama.

Appreciate your teachers by giving them a small gift or writing a 'Thank you' note when they do something beyond the call of duty.
