Ogolla: Players exodus may affect Gor Mahia

Nairobi, Kenya: Gor Mahia assistant coach Bob Ogolla has admitted that loss of key players may affect the team's performance but insisted that with good preparations and signings they can still do well.

The team has been hit by the departure of influential midfielder Geoffrey Kizito and striker Dan Sserunkuma who left the club to seek greener pastures.

"The loss of key players has hit us badly but if we can get equally good players and with more than a month of preparations, we are able to make an impact in the competition," he said.

"We cannot afford to underrate our opponents in Champions League football. I have a personal experience of featuring against a team from Madagascar while as a player and they eliminated Gor Mahia and so we have to be at our best.

Ogolla said playing a series of build-up matches will be of major help to the team. "We are hoping to get equally good signings but they will need to play together in build up matches to jell with the rest of the team."
