Drug firms are cashing in on cult American television drama Breaking Bad by using pictures of its stars to hawk legal highs.
The name and face of main character Walter White is being plastered over packaging of chemical powders to attract fans of the drug-based series.
Tonight campaigners told the Sunday People this “disreputable marketing” was putting young lives at risk.
The images are apparently being used without permission of entertainment giant Sony, which holds the UK copyright of the show.
Online legal high retailer Buddha Blues uses the crystal meth-cooking teacher – played by actor Bryan Cranston – to flog a cocaine-style powder at Sh 1400 a gram.
A rival supplier, Global Weekends, is selling another synthetic powder marketed with what appears to be Cranston’s face on the packet.
It is named Ice N Berg – after Heisenberg, the alias used by White.
The firm uses a legal loophole by selling the high as bath salts and labelling it as not for human consumption.
It gives a euphoric effect by boosting dopamine in the brain and has been linked with hospital admissions.
