Bride takes her father on honeymoon after husband's passport fails to arrive in time

Portsmouth, England: A newlywed ended up taking her dad on her honeymoon - after a mix-up left her new husband without a passport.

Katy and Keith Buxey, a couple of 13 years, had never been away together and booked a romantic getaway to Disneyland Paris with their two girls.

But Keith's passport had failed to arrive by the day of their wedding at St Peter and St Paul Church in Portsmouth, Hants.

With daughters Aaliyah-Thai, nine, and Abigail, seven, looking forward to the trip, 32-year-old Katy was left with no option but to take her father David Worthington.

Meanwhile, security guard Keith, 34, remained at home as his family hopped on a cross channel ferry and drove to Disneyland.

Katy, of Havant, Hants, said: "His passport did not come back in time and I had to go with my dad instead and the girls.

"It was annoying because we have never been on holiday together.

"I have always been away with my family and the girls and this was going to be our first family holiday together."

The Asda supermarket worker admitted the family still had a great time and now she has returned, the lovebirds are planning another honeymoon.

She added: "It was brilliant - I really enjoyed it. It was upsetting I couldn't spend time with Keith, but you just have to get on with it.

"We still had some nice days out but we are now planning another honeymoon and are going to book it, hopefully next year.

"He makes me laugh and be happy every day."
