Bar cart decor

Your Home

bar cart

A bar cart adds an element of sophistication and glamour to your home; a great eye candy that adds dimension to your interior. They are an entertaining essential that not only get the party started, but also showcases your style and personality. They come in varying designs and styles; including metallic and wooden.

Bar carts offer so much flexibility in the home. Apart from their obvious function of storing drinks and glasses, they can also be used as an extra set of hands when you have guests as an additional table space for serving food.

Decorating them can be tricky because if you overdo, they look crowded while if they are under-done, they look sparse and empty. So how best should you decorate them?

The first thing to consider when styling a bar cart is the bar cart. You need to decide the look you want to create; what style or theme you intend to achieve. Is it a serious, elegant or playful look? Is it modern vintage or sleek? If you want a modern look, go for something sleek and simple. If you, however, love antique décor, get something with an older, more embellished look.

Your next step would be to buy the liquor you love. Some drinks taste great, but are packaged in ugly, cheap looking bottles- these are the ones that need to be transferred into a decanter. Your decanter should define the décor style you have settled for.

Do not struggle to display all your glasses and liquor bottles; pick your favourites, which match with your style and lock up the rest in a cabinet. You also need some basic items that include decanters, liquor with beautiful packaging, beautiful trays, napkins, basic bar paraphernalia, glassware of varying sizes, a lamp, fresh flowers, unique vases, cocktail recipe books, coasters, and ice bucket, among other things. Use the top shelf for display of your decorative accessories, fresh fruits (bright lemons and lime) in a bowl, and beautiful glasses; otherwise, use it to display your drinks if you are hosting guests.

Arrange everything neatly in an organised manner, ensuring you utilise all parts of the cart. Always remember, however, that less is more.

Bar carts are available in most furniture shops and supermarkets. You can also have one custom-made by your fundi.
