Senator Muthama’s wife in court over ‘eviction’ from matrimonial home

NAIROBI, KENYA: The wife of Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has moved to court seeking to block the Senator from evicting her from their matrimonial home.

Agnes Kavindu submitted in the papers filed in court that the Senator had made made several attempts in the recent past to evict her from the home despite a court order barring him.

Kavindu through lawyer Judith Thongori added that electricity and water in the home had been disconnected and prayed to the court that the Senator be compelled to restore the basic facilities.

Kavindu submitted that a security guard at the home on instructions of the Senator had locked her out which led to her being robbed of her bag containing her valuables and went ahead to explain how Muthama had ordered that bees be introduced in the house to force her out.

The Senator's wife submitted that she had been treated inhumanly and deprived of her right to basic facilities such as water despite the home boasting of two bore holes.

"Since the water was disconnected from the house I have been forced to resort to using water from the swimming pool for washing and bathing," she submitted in the documents filed in court.

Kavindu further added that her son Moses had gone to the home and removed all house hold items such as cutlery, cooker, fridge and chairs from the house in a bid to force her out.

She wants the court to intervene and stop what she termed as harassment in order to enable her enjoy peace at the family's Mua home.

High court judge William Musyoka certified the case as urgent and directed Kavindu to serve the Senator with the court papers.
