Gor has taken this thing, bwana!

Gor Mahia will be the champions again. At least that is the word on the streets in the team strongholds.

While the Kenya Premier League (KPL) has about two months to go, Gor (K’Ogalo) fans are certain that it is another ‘giniwasekao year’ for them.

For the Love of the Game concurs as all indications point to Gor retaining the trophy. And here is why.

First, Gor has perched at the top of the KPL for several weeks, at one point alternating with Sofapaka FC. But of the two teams, only K’Ogalo has shown clear thirst to bag the trophy.

Ingwe has lost focus

Second, with AFC Leopards having lost focus, Ulinzi clueless of what is happening in the league and Tusker becoming blunt perhaps due to ‘beer fumes’ from Ruaraka where they train, K’Ogalo has no strong competition at the top.

AFC Leopards, Gor’s bitter rival, has been a disappointment this season. They have lost tact, class and vigour to the go to the top despite changing coaches like tyres and having elected youthful blood to management. The best thing for them to do is start planning for next season.

Third, as the race for the trophy gets tougher, expect Gor Mahia fans to tighten the noose on referees, as they are won’t to do.

The fans will threaten or if the worst happens, beat referees for K’Ogalo to have their way.

This can only mean one thing; Gor is likely to get several penalties in their forthcoming matches if experience is anything to go by. These penalties will give them a head start and opportunity to win the league.

Fourth, there is little or no cry about pay and allowances coming from Gor Mahia’s locker room. This indicates that players’ morale is at its peak.

Officials of the club also seem to have found a common ground and they are working in harmony with the players and the coach.

Running on a full tank

And with millions of shillings coming from gate collections every time K’Ogalo is on the pitch, Gor is running on a full tank. This means the odds are favouring the team.

Lastly, and most important, a trusted seer has informed For the Love of the Game that a team with a green jersey would win this year’s league. Of course Sony FC have green jerseys but what rules them out is that the seer likened the winner to an elephant. Sony is a warthog.

Gor, however, should be careful since the seer warned that the elephant might stumble if not well taken care of. For now, let brave Gor fans start quiet celebrations.
