Deputy President William Ruto tells envoys to market continent

Deputy President William Ruto, has told African envoys serving outside the continent to lead the way in championing the new African narrative, which he said has been misrepresented for decades.

"For a long time, Africa's narrative has been defined by hunger, disease and conflict. There is a bigger story and you must lead in telling that story," Ruto told 25 Africa diplomats based in Geneva, Switzerland.

He hosted them for dinner-cum-lobby session after attending the World Trade Organisation Public Forum.

The DP said Africa is on the rise with seven of the world's fastest growing economies being in the continent. He said Africa is registering the highest return on investment and that, investors are flocking the continent.

"Despite all these positive things, Africa is still profiled as backward plagued by poverty and conflict," he said.
