Group wants Kwale Governor to lead delegation to apologise to Raila over Kwale attack

Kwale, Kenya: The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) South Coast branch now wants Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya to lead a delegation to apologise to CORD leader Raila Odinga in Nairobi.

The clerics' organization says that a delegation from Kwale should travel to Nairobi to apologise to Raila over Monday incident at Kinango where an elderly man struck him.

CIPK Chairperson Sheikh Hamisi Banda says the governor should call all MCAs, MPs, Senators and opinion leaders to visit Raila over what he termed as shameful action.

"The governor should call all leaders and talk over the issue then go and apologize to Raila because what happened was so shameful," said Banda.

He said the issue was not a small matter to be ignored.

He also called on the police to carry out an investigation over the incident.

"We rebuke such actions by a few people who want to show Kwale people as violent. What took place has never been recorded in Kenya's history. We ask the government to thoroughly investigate the guy and establish his motive," he added.

Raila and governor Mvurya were Monday caned by a man while at an Okoa Kenya rally in Kwale.
