A telcom network employee for her loyalty to rival service provider

Counties

A young employee at a leading mobile telecommunications company has been shown the door, after it was discovered she’s more loyal to the company’s rival.

It was discovered that she owns a dual SIM phone, which had a SIM card belonging to the company’s rival.

This was discovered when the employee unwittingly sent her supervisor a text message from a rival network explaining why she was to report to work a bit late.

“Oiyee boss, kuchelewa nayo? Naenda hosii xo will b lay8,” the message read in part. Even though her real reason for being late was sheer laziness, and the fear of waking up wake up early on a Monday. She panicked when she saw her boss calling almost as soon as the SMS had been delivered.

“Kwanza I thought it was my spelling and since I am totally like in the corporate communication department I knew I was in like soo much trouble...” the young lady, only going by the name Laurencia, confessed.

But when the boss spoke, she realised she was in bigger trouble and not just for faking sickness.

“Laurencia, I know our network is expensive but you don’t have to rub it in my face!” the supervisor is said to have thundered. “This is like cheating on a spouse who clothes, feeds and houses you...In fact, you are fired!”

Upon further investigation by the employer, it was discovered that the Generation Y employee’s activity on the social media networks betrayed the fact that she was a ‘follower’ of the rival network. Whats more, she had also ‘liked’ the rival network’s Facebook page, yet she kept off the social media platforms of her employer.

reliable, cheap services

In her defence, the employee said she only subscribed to a rival network to take advantage of lower rates as well as offers and promotions.

“I didn’t know there was anything wrong with going for a more reliable and affordable service,” Laurencia argued her case. When news about her being fired reached her colleagues, they panicked and immediately there was flurry of activity as they frantically tried to get rid of their dual SIM phones.

Some said they did so to avoid a situation where they might accidentally call their company from a rival network and end up putting their jobs on the line. Speaking on condition of anonymity, Laurencia’s colleagues confessed that they too ‘cheat’ on their employer but in a very discreet way.

“Even us (sic) we have dual SIM phones, but we leave them at home. In fact, when we use them we make sure we are wearing gloves to ensure we don’t leave our fingerprints on them to ensure they are not traced back to us in case they fall into the wrong hands,” revealed Laurencia’s colleague.

private investigators

In a statement to the Press, the mobile telecommunications company regretted the incident and promised to conduct thorough background checks on employees before hiring them.

“We can’t have a situation like this happening again,” said the HR director of the company. “We will do whatever it takes to root out serial cheaters before we employ them, even if it means hiring private investigators!”

The fired employee, who deeply regrets her actions, has promised to change her ways in an effort to get back her job. She is even rumoured to be shopping around for a cheap rehabilitation centre she can check into in a bid to put a stop to her addiction for cheap things!
