Here are four things that will make Safaricom Sevens memorable

Counties

Adrenalin is fast rising among rugby fans as the biggest bonanza of the sport is set to start this Friday. Dubbed Safaricom Sevens, the international games are certainly the leading rugby festival in this part of the Sahara.

For the Love of the Game cannot wait for the games to start so that men can collide like bulls fighting somewhere in Ikolomani, Kakamega County.

Also, so that girls can come out skimpily dressed and display their God-given assets to spice up the games. It is usually a charged atmosphere that leaves the girls begging for more at the end of the three-day extravaganza.

Going by happenings in the past, there would certainly be nothing but exhilarating action on and off the pitch. Here is what For the Love of the Game expects.

1. More skimpily dressed girls

As alluded earlier, Safaricom Sevens cannot be entertaining, particularly for men, if girls dressed as if they are going to the swimming pool do not turn out in large numbers.

These girls add flavour to the games as they walk in the stadium offering men some relief, especially when Shujaa falls to South Africa or Fiji.

And again, rugby has turned into a ladies’ game, so the more they turn up, the better for the growth of the sport.

2. No repeat of Masaku Sevens, please

Masaku Sevens turned out to be an embarrassment to ardent rugby fans. Young boys and girls who are barely out of their nappies drank booze as if they the world was coming to an end, and engaged in other immoral behaviour that I cannot describe in a sports column.

The lessons were learned, thus, one would expect that the Safaricom Sevens would be an event where discipline would be maintained, despite the huge presence of skimpily dressed girls.

3. Shujaa wins trophy

There is nothing as traumatising as crooks raiding your home, beating you up and fleeing with your wife or daughter. That is what has happened to Shujaa for many years now. They host the event, but other teams come, beat them and flee with the top prize. To say the least, it is embarrassing. Shujaa should save face this time round.

4. President Uhuru Kenyatta graces the event

The President certainly has a busy diary, but for the love of the game, he should take some five minutes off and attend this auspicious event as he did with the Safari Rally to lift the sport.

For the Love of the Game knows the President is still nursing the wounds inflicted on him by Harambee Stars, but this will heal if he sees Shujaa lift the trophy. We hope Coach Paul Treu is reading this. Do not embarrass the country.
