Lobbying for vacant the Football Kenya Federation positions intensifies

Intense lobbying for vacant positions in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) took a new dimension after 14 branches of the 19 met in Mombasa, yesterday.

The branches unanimously resolved to back former Kenya Football Federation Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak for the Vice President seat during the federation’s Special General Meeting set for next Saturday in Eldoret.

South Coast branch chairman Hamisi Mwayoyo said the consultative meeting was to brainstorm ahead of the SGM. “We have 14 branches in Mombasa and our meeting concentrated on football issues and whom to support during the SGM set for Eldoret,” said Mwayoyo.

Yesterday’s meeting came hot on the heels of another one last week in Eldoret, attended by Robert Asembo who has been acting as the federation’s Vice President.

Mwayoyo said: “As host, we invited other ‘friendly’ branches to consult widely ahead of the SGM whose agenda is to fill the vacant positions in the federation occasioned by expulsion/suspension of some of officials.”

“We want democracy to prevail during the SGM and we will not allow leaders be imposed on us,”he added.
Asembo and Mbarak will face off in the race for the FKF Vice Presidency.
