Ex-MPs on the spot over campaigns

Ford Kenya leaders in Trans-Nzoia County have accused former cabinet ministers Eugene Wamalwa and Noah Wekesa for launching immature political campaigns and undermining Governor Patrick Khaemba's leadership.

Led by party organising secretary Ken Wafula, they asked the two former MPs to shun early campaigns, arguing they will jeopardise development in the county. The leaders accused the duo of failing the electorate while they were in Government.

"They (Wamalwa and Dr Wekesa) were given a chance to represent the people of Trans-Nzoia but failed to articulate their plight when they served in the cabinet," said Wafula.

He urged the two to support Khaemba's leadership to enhance service delivery and address the economic hurdles facing the county. Last week, Khaemba accused his political opponents of scheming to frustrate his leadership.

"Some people who were rejected by the electorate have turned their heat on me. They are holding night meetings to organise how to undermine me,"  Khaemba said.

Khaemba accused some past leaders of misusing their offices and failing those who elected them to Parliament.

"They were given the opportunity to represent the people but failed to serve them instead they focused on their personal interest at the expense of the needy people," he charged.
