Ngina Kenyatta's TV look-alike uncovered!

Heads Up
Ngina Kenyatta

Ivy Mungai

Ngina Kenyatta and Ivy Mungai

There is a new TV eye candy on our screens. Her name is Ivy Muigai.

She is not the first beauty to appear on TV, but the fact that she resembles the president's daughter, Ngina Kenyatta, has aroused the interest of many viewers.

Ivy, a reporter at NTV also has a distinct foreign accent. Asked if she is related to the First Family, she said, "Not to my knowledge, I really don't want to find out."

We pressed further and asked her about her last name, which also happens to be the president's, and whether she was aware of her resemblance to Ngina.

"Yes, I have been stopped on the streets by people who wanted to know if I'm Ngina. However, I really don't want to dwell on this matter. There is a reason why I want things to remain the way they are," was her rather cryptic response that raises more questions than answers.

This is not the first time the University of Portsmouth Business and LLB Law graduate has been on the limelight.

Ivy was interviewed by the BBC in 2010 after the tragic death of her best friend, Asha Muneer. Asha was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend-turned stalker.

In the interview, she talked about her time with Asha and how she testified in court about the killer's disturbing behaviour prior to the murder.

"Asha's death is one of the reasons that made me pursue law."

So how did she end up on TV?

"I returned for holiday and decided to get a job. The only promising offer I got was from a media house. The law profession in Kenya has very limited opportunities," she said.
