Meet the playboy who has a wife, two fiancées and a sergeant girlfriend

Midlands, England: Serial love rat Conor Brannigan splashed his money on flashy cars and sharp suits, a former employee claimed on Tuesday.

Emilia Balcer said the 41-year-old had gone “a bit mad” and she had noticed his change of lifestyle.

The shopworker, 32, added she had no idea the convicted fraudster was leading a multi-layered lie – with a wife, two fiancees and a girlfriend.

And Emilia said Brannigan was the “best boss” you could have before he had some kind of mid-life crisis and went off the rails.

Meanwhile the Star has reported that one of the women duped by Brannigan is a Garda Sergeant.

It has claimed the conman was engaged to Garda Sergeant Martha McEnery who was unaware of Brannigan's deception and other women.

it's reported that Brannigan's relationship with Sgt McEnery ended as soon as she learned he had a secret family.

This week Brannigan was jailed for a year after admitting conning a prospective “brother-in-law” out of €250,000.

It also emerged in court he was married with three children, engaged to two other women and has a partner and child in Poland.

on Wednesday Polish national Emilia Balcer told how she nearly fainted when she heard her former boss was living four separate lives.

She said: “I just can’t believe this, he was a good boss to me, something must have happened to him.

“I worked for him in the Spar shop in Birr [Co Offaly] and he looked after me very well, he actually brought me over from Poland. I ran the place for him.

“When I heard this I couldn’t believe it, something must have happened. I got on well with his wife, she was lovely and they had three lovely girls.”

Emilia, from Krakow, added she noticed a change before leaving his employment.

She said: “He bought a Lexus car and started to wear flash suits and was not the same. I had to go and get other work and look after myself.

“I have not seen him in a long time and couldn’t believe he did these things.” Emilia also had no idea he’d a girlfriend in Poland with whom he had a child.

She explained: “I don’t know who she is. I didn’t know, I feel sorry for her.”

On Tuesday, Brannigan, from Stafford Hall, Silver Street, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, admitted conning vet James Hoare out of €250,000 in a land deal.

Roscommon Circuit Criminal Court heard Brannigan met Mr Hoare through the vet’s sister who was his girlfriend.

When questioned by gardai he admitted entire life was a lie and it was revealed he’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

In a statement he said: “I can’t explain it. I was living four separate lives. I was married with three children, had two partners and was engaged to them and had a girlfriend and child in Poland.”

Judge Tony Hunt said the sums involved were so large there was no prospect of Brannigan repaying them.

He sentenced him to two years in prison, but suspended the second, adding: “His conduct was absolutely appalling.”
