Four teachers held for posing as exam candidates

Four teachers of an academy in Tongaren Constituency were on Tuesday arrested while attempting to sit an exam on behalf of some candidates of a private teachers college.

They were arrested by police officers after being caught red-handed in an examination room by supervisors.

The four were discovered by teachers at Western Teachers Training College in Tongaren Constituency when they turned up to sit for a national P1 examination on behalf of other candidates.

Confirming the incident, Tongaren Sub-county Education Officer George Ogando said that posing as a duly registered candidate and sitting an examination on behalf of another student was an offence.

The education boss cautioned colleges in the region against involving themselves in national examinations cheating, adding that those caught will be punished .

“The irregularities attract a jail term,” said Ogando.

The four were  later arraigned before a Kitale court charged with impersonation.
