AFC Leopards continued to perform poorly as they were held to a barren draw by visiting Bandari on Wednesday at Nyayo Stadium.

Leopards have now gone three matches without a win, a possible indication of the turmoil in the team.

Team manager Richard Madegwa was not on the bench even as reports claimed that he was asked to step aside. The club’s top officials who attend matches were missing, perhaps fearing the wrath of fans.

The only positive thing about Leopard’s performance is the fact that they created some chances but did not make use of them.

Midfielder Paul Were who is scheduled to travel to South Africa for a series of trials, should have beaten Wilson Obungu with a well taken volley, but the Bandari goalkeeper made a fingertip save to give Leopards their first corner of the match.

Eight minutes later, it was the turn of Musa Mudde to try his luck, but he too was denied by Obungu for the second corner for Leopards.

Bandari’s striker Jimmy Bagaye really troubled his markers as he kept getting past the Leopards backline, and should have gotten at least two clear goals before the break.

Leopards were the first to make substitutions as they rested Charles Okwemba for Jacob Keli and Paul Were for Keneth Wendo, but it did not work, and they had to be content with another draw.

Elsewhere, Chemelil Sugar will host Nairobi City Stars tomorrow in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match.

The sugar millers will be fighting to overturn a 2-0 loss at the hands of Bandari last Friday, and start the second leg on a positive note.

The loss to Bandari was the first for the sugar milers at home, and coach Mike Muiruri has admitted that they will be under pressure against City Stars.

“Against Bandari we were never in the match. We did not rise to the occasion and it has left us under pressure to recover,”he said.

For victory, Chemelil will look to Meshack Karani, who has been very impressive since joining them from Mathare United.

Veteran Gearshon Likonoh and Hillary Echesa are the other hopefuls who will be relied upon for a positive result by the millers.

Time is also running out for City Stars to survive relegation after they went down 3-1 to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) last Sunday.

The Kawangware-based outfit have once again been thrown into the relegation battle.
