Nairobi, Kenya: The coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD) has come out in reaction to the recently aired expose on the issues surrounding the 2013 general election.

While terming the election as ‘nothing short of an anatomy of an election fraud and theft’, CORD  said that it is not going to allow Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commissioin (IEBC) preside over another election adding that the reports aired on KTN’s JIcho Pevu and The Inside Story justified their belief that the results were neither credible nor trustworthy.

In a press statement signed by legislators Francis Nyenze, Paul Otuoma, Abdulsheriff Nassir, Omondi Ogutu, Thomas Mwadeghu, Olago Aluoch, Bernard Katungi, Junet Mohammed, CORD discredited any fairness in the election saying IEBC was neither free nor independent.

“The possibility of IEBC as currently constituted presiding over another election is unimaginable and unacceptable to us,” says CORD.

CORD however says it will address the issue comprehensively at a later date.

“What we want to emphasize at this juncture is that based on what we know, which has been reinforced by media reports, we have an incompetent and partisan electoral body and we are not ready to face another election with it,” said CORD.

The coalition also came out to clear the air of allegations that they are still dwelling in the past over the contested poll results.

“We long accepted the results of a shady election and agreed to serve the people of Kenya as the Opposition.”

KTN ran a two-part investigative piece, on Sunday and Monday, of the events of the March 2013 general election which highlighted anomalies in the electoral process.

Some IEBC officials have however come out to defend themselves of any ill doing and denied any conspiracy.

The coalition is tomorrow set to address a press conference on what they term as the failures of Jubilee government to implement its pledges to Kenyans.
