Reeva Steenkamp’s cash-strapped mum is relying on handouts so she can attend Oscar Pistorius’ murder trial.

The African National Congress’ Women’s League is funding June Steenkamp’s accommodation and travel costs so she can listen to the gruesome details of her daughter’s death.

Devoted June has been pictured regularly at the court in Pretoria, South Africa, where Paralympian Pistorius is charged with shooting dead his model girlfriend on Valentine’s Day last year.

But the Steenkamp family struggles to pay bills, including healthcare costs after Reeva’s horse trainer dad Barry suffered two strokes in the weeks before the trial began.

A source said the ANC gives June spending money as well as paying her bed and breakfast costs and air fares.

The ANC Women League’s Jackie Mofokeng has been spotted sitting in an area of the court reserved for the Steenkamps.

She is one of several ANCWL members who have protested outside carrying placards highlighting against violence against women.

Last year June admitted the family was struggling financially in the run-up to 29-year-old Reeva’s death.

June said: “We are struggling financially. Reeva was helping us. On the night she died, when she was on her way to Oscar’s house, we talked about her sending us money to pay our cable television bill.

“I was fretting because I thought I was going to miss her first TV appearance.

“She told me not to worry, she would send money the next day. She regularly helped us with food and utility bills.”
