Archbishop John Cardinal Njue urges humility among men of cloth

Nairobi Archbishop John Cardinal Njue has appealed to priests to express humility and commitment in their vocation. Njue told the clergymen that priesthood was a calling by God to serve people and therefore it called for a show of the two virtues for one to succeed.

“This day should mark a new day of reflection and humility as you renew your commitment to your priestly duties and continue to follow in the footsteps of Christ,” said Njue.

The cardinal made the remarks when he presided over the Holy Thursday Chrism Mass at the Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi.

The morning mass mainly commemorates the institution of priesthood by Christ.

During the mass, bishops around the world meet with their priests where they renew their vows for their vocation.

Njue just like other bishops also used the occasion to bless the Holy oils that will be used in the churches throughout the year to administer the various sacraments like baptism, confirmation and anointing the sick.
