Three hitmen who killed the wrong man are jailed for 88 years

Paul Croxton, Thomas White and George McGovern have been jailed for a total of eighty-eight years after being found guilty of murder.

Three men were given long jail sentences on Wednesday for a gangland execution that targeted the wrong man.

Currency trader Jason Osu, 31, was blasted seven times in 20 seconds in the face, chest and arms as he sat in his Mercedes.

But investigating detectives believe his killing was a case of mistaken identity .

Gunmen Paul Croxton, 21, and Thomas White, 29, and organiser George McGovern, 54, were found guilty of murder and given minimum jail terms of 30, 32 and 26 years.

Croxton and White were caught on CCTV wearing balaclavas moments before the shooting in November 2012, the court had heard.

Mr Justice Openshaw said at Liverpool crown court Mr Osu, of Wavertree, had been “ruthlessly and professionally executed”.
