Democratic Party comes out in defence of Governor Julius Malombe

By PAUL MUTUA

Kitui, KENYA: Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) has said consistent attacks leveled against the Kitui County Government are unfortunate, baseless and unwarranted.

The Party’s Kitui County chairman Kinyua Musyoki told Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze and a host of Members of the County Assembly to let Governor Julius Malombe fulfill his mandate to residents without sabotage.

In a harsh press statement, Musyoki told off Nyenze and Dr Malombe’s other sworn critics, urging them to give the governor and his executive space to work so they can lay a firm foundation for the county’s development.

MATURE POLITICS

“What we need is progressive, inclusive and consultative leadership in which we engage each other on sober debate that will promote development and unify us in our diversity,” Musyoki said.

The chairman said Nyenze’s constituents feel abused, belittled and held in contempt by the MP when he alleges that voters had resolved not to pay dues to the county government among other falsehoods.

“We are in an era of mature leadership and petty politics being peddled on issues involving the county’s leadership, specifically the governor, have no place in this day and age,” he said.

Musyoki said those being used as pawns to spread lies and portray the governor as a failure must realise that the final decision on whether or not Malombe should go lies solely with Kitui residents.
