Wait for presidency, Musikari Kombo tells Moses Wetang’ula

By Grace Wekesa

Bungoma, Kenya: Former Webuye MP Musikari Kombo has asked Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula to prepare for the 2017 presidential race and leave the Senate seat to someone else.

“All presidential aspirants are not seeking elective posts... including Raila and Kalonzo Musyoka.Wetang’ula has set his eyes on presidency let him go for it and stop wasting his time wanting to be a senator,’’ charged Kombo.

And Amani Coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi launched yet another scathing attack against former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whom he accused of misleading Western region.

Mr Mudavadi said western region should exclude itself from the Government, warning that such a move would be detrimental in the development of the area.

He claimed Raila’s double standards were misleading Kenyans.

“Why should Western residents be told to ignore the Government yet he is welcomed in Nyanza? Raila should stop misleading our people and focus on development issues in his region,’’ said Mudavadi.

Speaking in Webuye yesterday during a meeting with Bungoma Muslim clerics who endorsed New Ford Kenya’s candidate Musikari Kombo for the senatorial by-election, Mudavadi urged leaders from outside the region to stop meddling in Luhya affairs maintaining the region has leaders capable of making their own decisions.

Kombo said he is seeking an opportunity to serve the people of Bungoma and capture the seat that “was stolen” from him on March 4.

Kombo urged the electorate to maintain peace during the campaigns and on voting day.

“I am asking for your votes peacefully. It is your constitutional right to decide who to vote for.

Western region

“Western region has enough leaders who can make decisions on behalf of our people including Kenneth Marende, Cyrus Jirongo and I. It is high time leaders from outside take care of their regions and stop looking for supremacy using Western region,’’ he noted.

The former deputy prime minister said his coalition is not against Luhya unity and that Bungoma County is a cosmopolitan area and all residents, irrespective of their tribes, should be included.

“Amani coalition is not opposed to Luhya unity but our rivals should stop using it as their campaign propaganda. All tribes residing in Bungoma County should be considered in order for the unity to serve a good purpose,’’ said Mudavadi.
