SAMBURU, KENYA: Police in Samburu is searching for a man who cut off and ate his daughter’s ear on Sunday night.

The report which was reported at the Maralal Police Station indicates that the man cut off his three year old daughter’s ear and ate it at Shabaa village after he came home late at night drunk and hungry.

The man is said to have started biting his wife when he did not get his dinner before he took a knife and cut off his daughter’ ear for food.

According to neighbours, the wife’s screams were heard from the man’s house raising alarm which called them for immediate rush for rescue only to find the man had vanished.

“We heard a loud scream and we rushed to the house and after arriving with other villagers, we found pool of blood on the bed and the father of the family had already escaped,” said John Lekarie, a neighbour.

He said they tried to pursue him but was nowhere on sight and they just decided to rush the child to Maralal District Hospital for treatment.

While calling for immediate arrest and prosecution of the man, Gilbert Simba from the Children’s Office Department in Samburu County said incidents of children rights violation is increasing in the area.

“Many children are suffering due to domestic violence and we are urging all women to seek other alternative ways to empower themselves economically rather than live with such brutal men,” Simba urged.
