It will be a party like no other. And, it will never be 18 years again.

Such is the mood in the house of K’Ogalo aptly captured by Gor Mahia secretary general George Bwana and his assistant Ronald Ngala.

From famed musician Juma Toto, who with Hody Boys composed unforgettable, hit Gor Mahia FC in the 70s, to nyatiti player Ogwang K’Okoth.

From founding player James Siang’a, treble winning captain Austin Oduor to the last skipper to hold aloft the Kenyan Premier League Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno — the keyboard is stuck on the party mode for Gor Mahia followers.

“Why not. The players, the fans and club officials have earned the right to party. Not just partying, it will be one that befits the champions,” Bwana told Game Yetu.

Plans are under way for a grand trophy presentation never witnessed before in the Kenyan Premier League at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

Game Yetu understands the league title sponsors Tusker have stepped in to help with the preparations.

The match will kick off at 4.30 ostensibly to allow for firecrackers at dusk.

“Gor Mahia fans born after 1995 have not seen their beloved team hold the KPL trophy. Hopefully it will never be 18 years again,” said Ngala adding that it will be a moment to behold.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is expected to lead a stellar cast of Gor Mahia fans and players of yesteryears.

Among the invited guests are 1987 Africa Cup Winners Cup Peter Dawo, Allan Thigo, Goro Oronge, George “Fundi” Onyango, David Ochieng “Kamoga”, Tiellen Oguta and Julius “Awilo” Owino.

Gor Mahia won the 2013 title with three matches to spare; a feat that has left their fans dreaming of the days their team had the appendage “Mighty.”

“This is the first step to a return to glory days,” Bwana said.

“We call upon fans to come in large numbers to witness this historic event. We also urge them to conduct themselves with decorum. Sit in the stands and take memorable pictures.”

Bwana revealed plans are on for a trophy tour in city estates and later to take it around the country.

An award ceremony to honour the champions is also under way.
