Fire guts down Buruburu Girls dormitory

Nairobi, Kenya: Parents and students of Buru Buru high school are counting loses after fire broke out in one of the dormitories destroying property on Wednesday night.

The fire is said to have started from the school's kitchen and spread to the adjacent dormitory.

A watchman who was trying to put off the fire was trapped within the building as the fire was rapidly spreading. He was later rescued having sustained injuries.

Nairobi area PPO Benson Kibue said more fire fighters had been called for since one engine that had arrived at the school was overwhelmed by the fire.

Two students were rushed to Metropolitan Hospital after inhailing carbon emitted from the inferno.

According to the Kenya Red Cross Society, ten Students fainted but suffered no burn related injury.

Students were attending evening preps when the dormitory caught fire. Some parents arrived at the school, moments later, to pick their daugthers.

The School was set to close on Thursday.
