By Feverpitch Reporter

The stage  is set for the  Kenya National Rally Championship,  Round One, organised by the Kenya Motor Sports Club (KMSC) in  Konza and Kajiado on January 27.

The KCB Kajiado Rally counts towards    the KNRC for Drivers and Navigators, Kenya National Group ‘S’ Championship for Drivers and Navigators, 2WD National Rally Championship for Drivers and Navigators and the  KCB Classic Car Cup for Drivers and Co-Drivers.

Entries for the event opened last Monday  at KMSF offices and  will  close next Monday. Road books will be issued at KMSF offices next Thursday followed by   Reconnaissance on Friday.

Only two passengers per crew are allowed.

Scrutineering and Documentation shall take place next Saturday at the Clubhouse.

The rally starts from the Clubhouse at 8am.

The Ceremonial Finish is from 5pm at the Kajiado Service Park, while the Final Scrutineering and Prize Giving  will be  at Kajiado Service Park.

The event is set to see drivers fighting for honours at various KNRC categories.

Leading the onslaught for KNRC Division 1 is reigning champion Carl “Flash” Tundo an his Dalbit teammate Alastair Cavenagh, Baldev Singh Chager, Peter Horsey and Quentin Mitchell.

Division 2 class is also anticipated to produce fireworks with Jassi Chatthe from Kisumu joining this group. Others in the Division 2 class are Manvir Singh Baryan and Izhar Mirza. Onkar Rai is also looking forward to the event with great expectations.

The 2WD class is expected to produce fireworks.

Dennis Mwenda hopes to take the fight to two times champion Leonardo Varese, James Kirimi and Gurmit Thethy.

If the deal Gurmit is working on  goes through, then he will be running a 6 speed dogbox on the car.

“It might not be here in time for the 1st rally though. The old one is a standard gearbox found on any road version car which is not good for competition use in gravel,” said Gurmit.

“The one we are souring is a competition gearbox built for rallying which gives the car good advantage in gravel and mud,” he told FeverPitch.
