Support my presidential bid, Raila tells Kalonzo

Prime Minister Raila Odinga took his campaign to Ukambani where he called on Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka to support his presidential bid.

The PM said he was ready to work with any like-minded Kenyan from the region and advised other Kamba leaders to join him in the race to State House.

He said it was through unity that Kenyans would achieve fundamental leadership requirement.

Odinga said he has worked with several leaders from the region and welcomed the VP to join him.

“I have worked with several Kamba leaders including Charity Ngilu, Harun Mwau and Kalembe Ndile. I am welcoming Kalonzo to work with me for the development of this country,” the PM said.

He addressed rallies at Emali, Makindu, Kibwezi, Kambu and Mtito Andei where he advised the Kamba people to shun tribal politics.

“Tribal politics is to blame for the underdevelopment of the country many years after independence,” he said.

The ODM party leader said Kenya needed united leaders to achieve the dreams of the forefathers who together fought for the independence of the country.

 “All these problems, famine, insecurity, water crisis and lack of jobs brought about by bad governance by past governments will be solved by the ODM party once I will be elected to power,” he said.

He said once elected, his Government would formulate development policies that would propel the country to economic success like in South Korea, Singapore and China whose economy was at par with Kenya about four decades ago, but are now among the most developed countries in the world.

Odinga was accompanied by Cabinet ministers, James Orengo (Lands) and Anyang’ Nyong’o (Medical Services), MPs Thomas Mwandeghu (Wundanyi), Cyprian Omolo (Uriri), TIP leader Kalembe Ndile,  and a host of ODM leaders from the region.

Prof Nyong’o, who is also ODM’s Secretary General, said the party has attracted a huge following in Makueni County, a manifestation that it has a national outlook.
