Security officers in Kirinyaga County have warned the outlawed Mungiki adherents of dire consequences if they return. Area Community Policing Committee has also warned the group after they circulated leaflets this week.

The leaflets in Kikuyu demanded apology from the Community Policing Committee within seven days following the killings of its members in 2009 or else face dire consequences.

“Boda Boda operators who were used to transport our members for execution have already apologised and the community should follow suit,” the leaflets read.

The county security team held a crisis meeting on Thursday led by County Commissioner Joseph Keter.

“We have intelligence reports that Mungiki gang have been spotted at Makutano and Ngurubani markets in Mwea and in Mathira District.  They will face the full force of the law,” Mr Keter said.
